FAQs

All your questions answered.

What to bring?

Because of the Scottish weather, we cannot guarantee good weather.  A waterproof coat and good pair of walking shoes or wellies.  No flip flops.  No umbrellas.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs to accompany treks.  As much as we love dogs, alpacas are naturally scared of our canine friends and their presence can alarm and upset our alpacas

Children

Children are most welcome,  in fact alpacas have a real connection with wee ones.  However, please take into account that due to the nature of being up close to various animals children need to be calm and respectful toward our alpaca and animal friends.  Alpacas can be alarmed by loud sounds and sudden movements, children need to be closely supervised by their grown up at all times! We trust the judgement of parents as to whether this activity is suitable for their children having taken this information into account.

Children and young adults 8-16yrs old must be accompanied by at least one trekking (and responsible!) adult who is in charge of them.

What experience should I book?

The walk is a gentle walk through the countryside giving you time to enjoy your alpacas company.  The walk is around 60 minutes.

If you are booking with younger children or if you have mobility issues then a Meet and Greet may be the better option.  You can meet the alpacas, hand feed them and take a short walk around our paddock.

Cancellations

Cancellations in circumstances other than that of inclement weather on the day must be made no less than 48 hours before.  You will be invited to reschedule. Cancellations under 48 hours cannot be rescheduled and will not be subject to refund except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Wellwood Alpacas.

Treks begin at 10:00a.m and 2:00pm and where there are other parties booked onto the trek we can not delay the start of the trek, and we can not return to the start to pick up late arrivals, if you miss the start of the trek you will not be subject to a refund or to  reschedule.

What can we expect?

We begin with an introduction to alpacas, their history, nature, uses and relationship with humans and an introduction to our own alpacas where you will be paired up with your trekking partner.  Each alpaca is different and has their own personality so we try and take this into account when matching you up! We will then set of on a gentle trek and simply enjoy some peace and quiet with your alpaca friend, it is up to you!
